Co-Founded in 2010 by serial entrepreneur, brad beckerman, and renowned chef and restauranteur, Adam Perry Lang, Stillhouse® is a premium spirits company behind the launch of the original moonshine®.

STILLHOUSE® DISTILLERY HISTORY

The STILLHOUSE® DISTILLERY is located in historic Culpeper, Virginia. The Culpeper area was a highly prized position for both sides during the Civil War, and witnessed more troop movement than any location in the nation. In 1863, over 20,000 soldiers clashed at Brandy Station, just outside of Culpeper, engaging in what would go down in history as the largest cavalry battle in the history of the Western Hemisphere.   

Following the war, a tenant house occupied the farm until 1975 when Chuck Miller took over the estate.  He began farming with his wife Jeanette on the 124 acres raising thoroughbreds and beef cattle as well as harvesting hay and corn.  Five years later, Chuck decided to start making legal moonshine but in the same fashion that his grandfather did decades before.  After a lengthy process to secure a license, Chuck Miller became the first official legal craft distiller in the United Sates in 1987.  

Chuck Miller met Adam Perry Lang six years ago when the renowned chef was looking to create a proprietary recipe with the best legal moonshiner in the country. The two traded recipes and ideas at the distillery -- Chuck brought his excellent technical skills to bear and Adam lent his highly trained palate and knowledge of what consumers want to taste.  

Together they created an aromatic, shockingly clean, ultra-smooth moonshine unlike any made before.

Chuck now grows his own corn, harvests it, stores it and grinds it to make the corn mash for The Original MOONSHINE®.

The distillery houses a genuine Prohibition-era solid copper pot still where the whiskey is distilled four times in the same authentic tradition that moonshine has been made for hundreds of years.   The distillery also houses an information center offering tours during the months the farm is in operation.  They draw close to 10,000 visitors a year including day trippers from Virginia as well as tourists from all over the world.

The STILLHOUSE® DISTILLERY is located at 13490 Cedar Run Road in Culpeper, VA. Tours of the distillery begin at 10:00am with groups of 12 every 15 minutes and is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00am to 5:00pm, April 1 through December 24.
